Outstanding achievements
Congratulations to:
Professor Allan Borowski, School of Social Work and Social Policy who has been elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia - a considerable honour providing recognition by Professor Borowski's peers for his distinguished contribution to the Social Sciences.
Mark Furlong, School of Social Work and Social Policy was awarded a La Trobe University citation for “Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning”. Mark’s work was also recognized by a teaching citation awarded by the Faculty.
Professor Pranee Liamputtong, School of Public Health, was inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women 2007, by the Minister for Women’s Affairs, Jacinta Allan. This honour recognises Professor Liamputtong’s pioneering work on childbirth issues of immigrant women, as well as her leadership in qualitative research methodology in health in Australia. Professor Liamputtong is in fine company as previous inductees include Christine Nixon, Cathy Freeman, Dame Elizabeth Murdoch and the University's own former Chancellor, Nancy Millis.
Professor Vivian Lin, School of Public Health, has been elected to the position of Vice President for Scientific and Technical Development of the International Union of Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE). The IUHPE has had an active program over the past few years of charting the debate about health promotion effectiveness, so Professor Lin's role will be to help build international collaboration in research and development.
