Brief Profile
Shane recently completed his PhD in the area of adult stuttering where he developed and trialled an Internet delivered speech restructuring treatment program. Other recent research endeavours include investigating the psychosocial impact of stuttering on adults and adolescents and Internet-based delivery of adult stuttering treatment. Shane also has significant clinical experience in the treatment of paediatric and adult stuttering and consults from a private speech pathology clinic in Malvern. He is a clinical educator in the La Trobe Communication Clinic and co-ordinates clinical placement subjects. Shane's teaching focuses mainly on the research stream subjects for the second and third year of the Bachelor of Health Science/Masters of Speech Pathology program. He is the subject co-ordinator for HLT2IEP Integrating Evidence into Practice, HCS4RSP Research Methods and Statistics for Speech Pathology and HCS5EPS Evidence Based Practice in Speech Pathology. Shane has recently co-supervised a 4th year pass degree project investigating methods to increase male participation in the speech pathology profession and is co-supervising a pre-honours student investigating the impact of stuttering on adolescents.
