Brief Profile
Dr Simon Barraclough read for an honours degree in political science at the Australian National University before taking his master's degree through the London School of Economics and Political Science and the School of Oriental and Asian Studies, The University of London. His doctorate was obtained from the Department of Government at the University of Queensland.
At the postgradaute level, Dr Simon Barraclough teaches in an advanced health policy subject and has also developed a pioneering subject in Australia's international health relations. He teaches an undergraduate subject concerend with global health initiatives. He has supervised research students from Australia, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Apart from a general interest in health policy, Dr Barraclough's research interests include the political economy of health systems in developing countries, international investment in health services, health industry exports, international health relations and tobacco control policies in developing countries.
