Brief Profile

Dr Rogers is an environmental economist whose work over the past 20 years has ranged from determining an economic value for old growth forest conservation and understanding the economics of implementing environmental precaution under conditions of high risk and uncertainty, through to working with 5 small rural communities in Central Victoria to develop a suite of sustainable development indicators.  She was a founding member of the Centre for Sustainable Regional Communities at La Trobe University, Bendigo and a founding member of the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance back in 2000. Her work with the JRI draws together her knowledge of sustainable and resilient communities and the implications of climate change for an aging population.  Dr Rogers is currently undertaking two pilot projects exploring a) the implications of water management strategies on healthy aging in rural communities and b) how the baby boomer generations are likely to create new models of retirement.
