Brief profile

Dr. Jeanine Blackford has worked as a researcher and educator in clinical practice settings as well as within the academic sector. From 2002 she has been working as both lecturer and researcher in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, La Trobe University. She taught across undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree programs.

Since 2005 Dr Blackford's research has been focused on Advance Care Planning (ACP) in community based palliative care and residential aged care facilities. In 2008 she was seconded to work as a palliative care research fellow on a project that aims to develop and trial an Advance Care Planning health services model for community palliative care services. Currently she is working with community palliative care services in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria to develop the ACP model. In 2009 a national trial of the model will be conducted.
