Brief Profile

Heather joined La Trobe Rural Health School in January 2012 and is the regional coordinator of the Postgraduate Diploma of Midwifery Science.

She has a background in health professional education and clinical midwifery. Her interests include health literacy and the provision of health information to women and their families.  Heather also has an educational interest in simulation in the midwifery context. She has also collaborated and presented midwifery preceptorship workshops in regional Victoria.

Research interests

Heather will commence PhD studies in 2012.She will collaborate on a randomised control trial titled RUBY (Ringing Up about Breastfeeding) - exploring telephone support in the early postnatal period to increase breastfeeding: a randomised controlled trial. Heathers research will focus on the role of peer support in the continuation of breastfeeding in the postnatal period.
