Brief Profile
Dr. George LIU has been working with the China Health Program at La Trobe University since 2000. He was appointed as director and associate professor of the China Health Program in 2010. Dr Liu originally trained as a public health doctor in China. He also serves as a lecturing professor for the Huaxi School of Public Health at Sichuan University.
Dr. Liu has teaching and research interests in Social Medicine and Health Services Management, especially in the areas of primary health care system development, safety and quality of health care, health information systems, and social support and equality in health services and health outcomes. His research projects have attracted funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the World Health Organisation, the China Medical Board of New York Corporation, and the UK, the Australian and the Chinese governmental agencies.
Dr. Liu has a longstanding interest in health promotion. He is currently a board director of the Chinese Health Foundation of Australia.
