Biography

I graduated as a Speech Pathologist from La Trobe University (formerly Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences) in 1987. Early in my career I worked primarily with children aged 0 – 6 who had physical and multiple disabilities, and later with children in schools. Whilst working full time, I studied computer science part time and then worked for a short while as a computer analyst programmer (1993). My PhD (2005) provided an opportunity to combine my clinical interests with my interests in information technology. Specifically I investigated clinical decision making within a medical context.

Academically I have taught and conducted research in the areas of speech pathology (early language development, professional practice in schools), allied health (inter professional practice), and information technology (database management systems, software engineering and clinical decision support) over the past 10 years.

I am a member of Speech Pathology Australia and the HCS representative on the Victoria Branch committee.
