Chyrisse has worked in the School of Human Communication Sciences at La Trobe University from 1988-1996 and resumed employment in 2000. She is a qualified speech pathologist and audiologist, having obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. In 2003, she obtained the degree Doctor of Philosophy through the School of Public Health, La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia.

Prior to migrating to Australia, she worked in South Africa in a wide range of settings as a speech pathologist, audiologist and researcher. She worked at The Medical Bureau for Occupational Diseases, The University of the Witwatersrand, The Units for Hearing Impaired Impaired Children (University of the Witwatersrand) as well as in Private Practice. In these positions she gained extensive experience working with children and adults with speech, language and hearing impairment. At present, in addition to her work at La Trobe University, Chyrisse also works in Private Practice and as a sessional lecturer at Charles Sturt University, Albury, New South Wales.

Teaching, Clinics and Supervision:

Chyrisse’s work at La Trobe University has covered a wide range of activities. She has had extensive involvement as a clinical educator and lecturer at all levels of the course including PBL Facilitator for the Master of Speech Pathology course. Her primary involvement in HCS is Subject Examiner of Basic Audiology and Aural Rehabilitation. Chyrisse has also been involved in supervising Honours and Masters research students.
