online A Sound JudgementThis interactive CD ROM program is aimed at students and practitioners from disciplines involved in the care of the human voice to assist them to develop skills in perceptual analysis of voice and to understand the laryngeal physiology underlying different voice features. In a virtual clinic environment, users are able to listen to a range of voices, view dynamic endoscopic and animated images of the larynx, read clinical reports, make perceptual ratings of the voices, and receive expert feedback about their perceptual ratings. The program also provides background information on laryngeal anatomy and physiology, perceptual components of voice, vocal pathologies, and laryngeal endoscopy and stroboscopy. A Sound Judgement was developed by Dr Jenni Oates and Dr Alison Russell and was supported by a National Teaching Development Grant from the Committee for the Advancement of University Teaching. It is designed to illustrate the different options for communication after a total laryngectomy has occurred. There will be opportunities for you to evaluate clinical cases and decide which speech option 'best suits' which patient. New Voice aims to develop your skills in making clinical decisions for voice and speech rehabilitation with people who have undergone this surgery. Purchase your copy via our online order form below. Stuttering CountsThis program has been developed for students and clinicians to enable them to learn accurately to identify various ways that stuttering can present. It also provides opportunities for learning to count the rate of speaking and to count the amount of stuttering present in various samples of speech. A rating tool is provided to enable clinicians to do this on-line in the clinic. The rating tool is included in the Stuttering Counts educational resource, but has also been replicated as a standalone tool for clinicians who know how to identify stuttering and count speech rate.
