Overseas Prospects

Graduating as a speech pathologist opens up a plethora of opportunities

Workplaces

With a speech pathology degree, you are able to work anywhere in Australia

…and even around the world!

Overseas Prospects

When you graduate as a Speech Pathologist, the world is at your fingertips! The prospects are enormous! Speech pathology graduates have gone to work in New Zealand, Singapore, Canada, the UK, Ireland and Greece (to list a few!)

It is recommended that new graduates gain at least 1 year of experience in Australia before jet-setting around the world.

Speech pathologists wishing to work overseas need to meet the requirements of the country they intend to go to.  For example, in the UK you will need to be registered with the Health Professions Council.

Below are some links to some overseas associations that a Speech Pathologist would contact regarding registration and work:

-   Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT)

-   The Health Professions Council (UK)

-   American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)

-   Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA)

-   New Zealand Speech-Language Therapists Association (NZSTA)

-   South African Speech-Language-Hearing Association (SASLHA)

-   International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics (IALP)

There are also a number of recruitment agencies that exist to help health graduates register and find work in countries around the world. Recruitment agencies offer a wide range of services, including arranging visas, work permits and assistance with finding employment.
