This site has been designed as a ‘gateway’ for professionals, students,
parents and caregivers to find information about feeding and swallowing in
infants and children.
This site has been created by six Speech Pathology students (with input
from Speech Pathologists experienced in the area of paediatric feeding and swallowing),
to allow users to locate and obtain information about feeding and swallowing,
predominantly in the form of on-line information and resources, however we have
included other sources of information. Whilst we have aimed this site towards speech pathologists and
speech pathology students, we hope that other professionals, parents/caregivers
and interested parties find the site a useful tool also.
The website has been divided into sections covering the assessment and management
of paediatric feeding disorders. The
assessment section covers normal feeding, the common causes of feeding
disorders, signs and symptoms and the roles of professionals. The management section has been divided into
the separate phases of feeding and the processes and structures involved.
Each section contains a brief description of the topic and lists and
describes relevant resources in the form of websites, books, journal articles,
videos and CD-ROMs. We have also
included a resource page that lists every reference/resource listed on or used
during the construction of this site. None
of the resources/references we have included on this site have been evaluated
in any way by the authors of the site, other than ensuring they contain
information in any way related to paediatric feeding.
We would like to thank all of
those people who assisted us in the creation of this resource – Professor
Sheena Reilly, Kate Fleming, Hilary Johnson, Gordon Baikie, David Harrington
We hope that we have provided a user-friendly resource for
people interested in paediatric feeding and dysphagia and we welcome your
comments about this site! Contact us!
