Tips on reducing accent.
º Try and slow down when you speak until you have learnt the
correct intonation and rhythm
º Look at your English dictionary and become familiar with the
phonetic symbols and look up words that you have difficulty
pronouncing
º Watch the mouth movements of native speakers
º Don’t be afraid to make a list of words you are having trouble
with and ask a native speaker to help you practise them
º Listen to books on tape or CD
º Listen to books on tape or CD and read at the same time
º Record yourself reading sections of the book and then compare
it to the native speaker’s reading.
º Pay attention to word endings
º Read aloud in English.
