STRATEGIES

It is important to identify and understand when a student requires special modifications to aid the listening process. Some of the strategies discussed here allow flexibility in the classroom.

Explaining listening to students
It is important for students to understand the process of good listening prior to teachers implementing strategies to reinforce this behavior.

Educating students' on good listening behaviours enables students' to understand and develop their listening skills.

A slideshow64 ,75 (with accompanying teacher handout) is available to use to present the concept of active listening to students in an easy to understand and interactive manner.

It is beneficial to explain listening to students at the beginning of the year, in order to set the culture of listening in the classroom.
