Course description

The Master of Art Therapy is a two-year full-time or part-time equivalent specialised training program in the practice of art therapy based on the principles and values of humanistic psychotherapy. It provides students with a range of perspectives to practice in clinical, educational, rehabilitation and community contexts. The teaching method incorporates experiential, theoretical and practice-based learning approaches.

The course is based on coursework undertaken at the University, including three semesters of supervised art therapy placements totalling 750 hours. Students are to submit and present a Masters-level final project at the Final Project Symposium in December.

Students who satisfactorily complete the first year of the course, and do not wish to continue, may exit with the Graduate Diploma in Art Therapy.
