Bachelor of Media

Course code/s: ABM

The Bachelor of Media offers students a flexible and forward-looking approach to the converging fields of film, radio, television and new media.  In core subjects students develop strong foundations in the creative use of media, gain a critical understanding of the role of media in social and cultural life and knowledge of the operation and regulation of the media. Students develop skills in collaborative productions for small and big screens, radio and audio design and digital media.  Opportunities are also available to gain skills in screenwriting, project development and the creative use of media technologies.  In addition to critical reflection and innovative practice, the program offers a stimulating selection of elective subjects which equip graduates with the flexibility, knowledge and skills to pursue a variety of career paths.

The Bachelor of Media recognizes the diverse career paths open to graduates by preparing them for employment in a broad range of media-making, across different platforms and industries. Graduates work in print, radio and television production, in corporate communications, media consultancies, Internet related industries and in teaching.

The first year of the Bachelor of Media also provides a flexible pathway to the Bachelor of Creative Arts and the Bachelor of Arts major in Screen + Sound, depending on availability of places in those degrees.
