Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation Education
Course code/s: Bendigo (EBOREB)
This course offers choice of Major study sequence in Outdoor Recreation Education or Natural Resources Education.
Outdoor Recreation Education combines a core of outdoor education, environmental studies, safety in outdoor environments, leadership studies, and 170 days of practical experience with specializations preparing for careers in outdoor recreation and school camps. Practical electives include bushwalking, rock climbing, cross-country skiing and paddling, developing knowledge of the Bendigo Region, Victorian Alps, Grampians and Murray River system.
Natural Resources Education combines a core of environmental studies, natural history and 50 days of practical experience with specializations preparing for careers such as a park ranger, in community environmental education or with land management agencies.
Admission requirements
Students should satisfy the normal university entrance requirements, including a study score of at least 20 in Units 3 and 4 of English.
Special requirements
Special entry applicants or students who have completed year-12 more than 12 months prior to application should complete the VTAC Personal History form. Special entry applicants may also be required to sit for the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) Multiple Choice.
Students should ensure they are aware of the physical components and location requirements of the course. Students with a disability, medical condition or any concerns which may affect potential participation in some of the practical components of the course are invited to discuss their options with the course coordinator.
Course structure
The course is a three-year full-time program. It consists of 360 credit points of study. All subjects are 15 credit points, except where indicated.
