Professional recognition

In order to satisfy the educational requirements of Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA), Foundations of Management MKT1MDP must be taken as elective subjects.

Students seeking employment in the finance industry or in a position which requires you to provide advice to retail clients about financial planning or financial products must complete an Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC PS146) compliant course of study. This includes: FIN3CFP.

NB: FIN3CFP

Successful completion of the appropriate choice of subjects qualifies graduates for membership of the following professional accounting bodies: CPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA), National Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Honours

The honours program requires a further year of full-time study or two years part-time study. Honours may be undertaken in either accounting or finance, or both with two years of additional study.

As a guide, the entry requirements are successful completion of a bachelor degree with a major in accounting or finance and a B (70%) or better average result in at least six second and third year core subjects in accounting or finance (at least 50% at 3rd year level). Students must complete all requirements of their undergraduate degree before taking up honours. See single course descriptions for honours year details.
