Bachelor of Educational Studies

Course code/s: Albury-Wodonga (EBESW), Melbourne (EBES)

Not offered in 2012

The Bachelor of Educational Studies is a pathway to further studies in education but is not accredited for registration as a teacher. The program is designed for people professionally concerned with education. It is structured to meet a variety of needs of teachers or other professionals who wish to pursue education studies in their field of interest. The Bachelor of Educational Studies provides sound foundation studies in education for those wishing to progress to the Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary) which is recognised by the Victorian Institute of Teaching as a one-year postgraduate teacher training course. Students with an undergraduate discipline sequence that meets the requirements for at least one secondary teaching method may be able to progress to the Graduate Diploma in Education (Middle Years) or the Master of Teaching (P-12).

The Bachelor of Educational Studies also provides a three year degree exit qualification from four year teacher education courses. When taken as an exit qualification the Bachelor of Educational Studies provides recognition of expertise in the field of education but without providing a teaching qualification.
