Master of Electronic Engineering

Course code/s: SMEE - Melbourne, SMELE - Melbourne

The last intake for the one year Master of Electronic Engineering is Semester 1, 2012. Students currently enrolled in the one year course will be able to complete and graduate with the Master of Electronic Engineering.

From Semester 2, 2012 the Master of Electronic Engineering will be a two year full time program.  The new course structure is provided after the one year structure below.

The following is the course structure for the one year Master of Electronic Engineering (SMEE):

This course provides a means for graduates to upgrade their skills and specialise in rapidly developing high technology areas of electronics. The Department supports study in undergraduate electronic engineering degrees in several different specialist fields. In the Masters by Coursework, these specialisations are continued with specialty teaching offered in the areas of biomedical engineering, communication engineering, electronic systems engineering, microelectronics design, and optical engineering.

Graduates can work in a wide range of industries, including:

  • communications
  • microelectronics
  • automotive
  • electronic equipment design and manufacturing
  • medical equipment
  • defence organisations and hospitals.

Admission requirements

Applicants should have a four year engineering degree or an Honours degree in science in an appropriate field or equivalent. Candidates who do not strictly meet the above requirements may be considered for admission following the successful completion of the Postgraduate Diploma in Electronic Engineering.

Course structure

The Master of Electronic Engineering course is a two semester (one year) full-time program requiring the successful completion of 120 credit points.
