Duration: 1 year full-time, 2 years part-time

The Master of Midwifery is a one-year, full-time or two-year, part-time, 120-credit point award comprising two pathway options to completion: Option 1 - three core subjects and a research project culminating in thesis of approximately 15,000-words or Option 2 - three core subjects plus a clinical project and one elective subject which can be chosen from the range of master's subjects offered in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. The course is designed to prepare midwives to undertake an integrated research, teaching and practice role consistent with the increasing professionalism expected of practising midwives. Upon completion of the course, graduates may apply for entry to doctoral candidature. The course is offered by distance education only.

Admission requirements

Applicants seeking entry into the Master of Midwifery require a Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery Science, or its equivalent, and hold a current practising certificate and endorsement as a midwife within Australia.
