Graduate Diploma in Web Technology
Course code/s: RGWT - Bendigo
This course focuses on the concepts, technology and processes behind the support and management of web-based systems. It (and the corresponding Graduate Certificate in Web Technology) is designed to provide a professional development path for IT professionals who wish to update or specialise in Web technology. Demand for graduates is expected to be from providers of Internet services, and from organisations using web browser interfaces for their new or legacy systems.
Admission requirements
Applicants must have completed a degree or graduate diploma that is acceptable as a first qualification in computing. Candidates who do not meet a specific subject’s prerequisites may be required to take the prerequisite(s). Such subjects may count towards the diploma, as long as the diploma requirements are met.
Course progression
Where there are, say, five to seven subjects a candidate wishes to take (i.e. more than needed for the Graduate Certificate but fewer than for the Graduate Diploma), they should enrol in the Graduate Diploma in Web Technology. They can then apply to graduate with the Graduate Certificate when ready. Remaining subjects may be used for credit to some other course if appropriate. A candidate with a Graduate Certificate in Web Technology who later elects to complete the Graduate Diploma in Web Technology will have the Graduate Certificate subsumed.
Subject availability
Most subjects are offered only in one semester per year, and some are offered as a day class one year (or semester) and a night class the other. These factors, plus the possibility that prerequisites may not be met, may mean that it is impossible for a candidate to complete a course of specific subjects full-time.
Block-mode study may be introduced if there is sufficient demand.

The course is one year full-time or part-time equivalent. It consists of eight 15-credit point subjects as follows (total 120 credit points). Other subjects may be substituted at the course coordinator’s discretion.

Key: * Including selected core subjects from the Graduate Diploma in IT in this Graduate Diploma in Web Technology increases our flexibility to satisfy a range of candidates. Those who studied these subjects or their equivalent in a much earlier qualification may wish to repeat them for update purposes. Factors in determining whether that is permissible will include the time since graduation – candidate experience/amount of change in the subject field in that time – and the candidate’s preferences and goals.
