Graduate Diploma in Information Technology

Course code/s: RGIT - Bendigo

This course provides a professional qualification in IT for those who have some grounding in the discipline. Its core provides a broad foundation in information systems, software development, and computer networking. Electives allow the student to deepen their knowledge in specific areas of their choosing.

Admission requirements

Applicants must normally hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent, plus successful completion of the subjects Business Programming Concepts and Information Systems or equivalent. The Graduate Certificate in Computing provides an appropriate foundation for entry. A minor strand in IT in the candidate’s original degree may also provide this foundation.

Course progression

Students may elect to graduate with a Graduate Certificate in Computing after completing 60 credit points. Those who have entered with this Graduate Certificate would have that subsumed, and graduate with the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (total 120 credit points).

Students may follow the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology with the Graduate Certificate (or Diploma) in Web Technology.

Course structure

The course is one year full-time or part-time equivalent and consists of eight 15-credit point subjects (120 credit points). There are four core subjects and one ‘principal elective’ (because it is a prerequisite for many other elective subjects), Business Data Structures (CSE3BDS). Candidates who are exempt from these because of prior study must replace them with electives.
