La Trobe Melbourne

La Trobe Melbourne is the pathway college at La Trobe University for both domestic and international students. It is owned and operated by Navitas, a global leader in the provision of education pathways programs, services and English language courses.

La Trobe Melbourne has been part of the University’s main campus in Melbourne since 1974, and currently has one of the most diverse international student populations in Australia. La Trobe Melbourne provides the latest learning and teaching technologies, a fully resourced Independent Learning Centre, Lounge and Café, as well as cultural events and activities.

All La Trobe Melbourne students have access to the full range of University facilities, including the library, computer/study halls, sports centre, student clubs and associations, and much more.

Foundation Studies and Diploma Programs (University Pathways)

Foundation Studies

These pathways are designed exclusively for international students to build upon studies in their home country, to meet the entry requirements into first year of undergraduate studies at La Trobe University.

Diploma Programs

La Trobe Melbourne offers domestic and international students an alternative pathway to a range of La Trobe University’s undergraduate programs by offering one-year Diplomas in Business, Information Technology, Bioscience, Mass Media and Communications and Health Science*. The diploma subjects are the equivalent of those in the first year of the degree and on successful completion, students will progress into second year of their destination degree.  Diploma programs are moderated and assessed by the respective University Faculty.

Foundation Studies and Diploma Programs

  • Three intakes each year: February, June, and October
  • Run over two or three semesters, and each semester is 13 weeks in duration
  • 2013 Fees: Foundation Studies (International Students Only): A$15 400, Diploma Programs (Domestic Students): A$17 500-20 500; Diploma Programs (International Students): A$20 600-23 000.

*Health Sciences diploma currently only available for international students

English Programs

La Trobe Melbourne offers quality English language programs from elementary to advanced levels. There are nine intakes throughout the year and six stages of study.

  • English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS), including: English for Further Studies (our Direct Entry English Language program for University entry) and General English
  • Specialised group programs and study tours
  • IELTS Achieve (focused IELTS preparation).

Intensive English language course fees are A$390 per week (2013 fee).
