Admission requirements
Prerequisite requirements are VCE Units 3 and 4 and a study score of at least 20 in English. Applicants with comparable qualifications will be considered. A limited number of students may also be considered under Special Entry Schemes.
Degree requirements
Students must complete a course of subjects accumulating a minimum total of 360 credit points (24 subjects), of which at least 315 must be subjected offered in the School of Management. The course is designed to be completed in three years of full-time study, although part-time study is possible. Part-time study is encouraged for students working more than 15 hours per week.
Students can undertake a maximum of 60 credit points (4 subjects) per semester. Subjects from the School of Management are equal to 15 credit points per subject. Subjects from other schools may differ.
Students must pass compulsory and prescribed pre-requisite subjects prior to commencing a subject at a higher year level.
Variations to this structure are subject to approval by the Faculty of Law and Management course advisers.
Students who wish to undertake a language specialisation within their degree will be allowed to do four sequential subjects instead of the four elective subjects. Students who wish to undertake the Diploma of Languages (120 credit points) concurrently with their degree will be allowed to complete their degree subjects over a four-year period to enable them to complete the semester sequence required for language studies.
Course structure
The course comprises core subjects, school electives and free electives. The third year specialisation available in this degree is Event Management. The tourism and hospitality courses seek to blend vocational training with a broad education for the industry’s future leaders. The Bachelor of Business (Tourism and Hospitality) combines the skills needed for hospitality and tourism supervision with business management and an understanding of the dynamics of the tourism industry.
The following course structure applies to students enrolling from 2010. Unless noted, all subjects are worth 15 credit points.
