Bachelor of Business (Sport and Leisure Management) – Bundoora (LBBSL)

Admission requirements

Prerequisite requirements are VCE Units 3 and 4 and a study score of at least 20 in English. Applicants with comparable qualifications will be considered. A limited number of students may also be considered under Special Entry Schemes.

Degree requirements

Students must complete a course of subjects accumulating a minimum total of 360 credit points (24 subjects), of which at least 300 must be subjected offered in the School of Management. The course is designed to be completed in three years of full-time study, although part-time study is possible. Part-time study is encouraged for students working more than 15 hours per week.

Students can undertake a maximum of 60 credit points (4 subjects) per semester. Subjects from the School of Management are equal to 15 credit points per subject. Subjects from other schools may differ.

Students must pass compulsory and prescribed pre-requisite subjects prior to commencing a subject at a higher year level.

Variations to this structure are subject to approval by the Faculty of Law and Management course advisers.

Students who wish to undertake a language specialisation within their degree will be allowed to do four sequential subjects instead of the four elective subjects. Students who wish to undertake the Diploma of Languages (120 credit points) concurrently with their degree will be allowed to complete their degree subjects over a four-year period to enable them to complete the semester sequence required for language studies.

Course structure

This course provides professional education in sport and leisure management. The course comprises core subjects, school electives and free electives. The specialisation available in this degree is Sport Management. The following course structure applies to students enrolling from 2010. Students progressing to second and third year must consult the Faculty of Law and Management Student Services for details of their progression requirements. Unless noted, all subjects are worth 15 credit points.

Bachelor of Business (Sport and Leisure Management) Honours

Admission requirements

The entry requirements are successful completion of a bachelor degree with a major in marketing, management, human resource management, business economics, or financial management and B (70%) or better average result in at least six second and third year core subjects from the designated major. Students must complete all requirements of their undergraduate degree before taking up honours.

Degree requirements

The honours program requires a year of full-time study or two years of part-time study following completion of the Bachelor degree.

Course structure

Students will be required to complete four coursework subjects and a thesis of 20,000 words.
The thesis will be completed under the direct supervision of an academic staff member. Approval of a research topic is subject to the availability of a supervisor in the designated discipline area. The major the student is studying will dictate the core subjects required.
