Australian sign language (AUSLAN) is the native language of Australia’s deaf community. The subjects in AUSLAN emphasise learning the language in its social and cultural context. Classes are mainly conducted in AUSLAN. Students with no prior knowledge of the language, as well as those with previous experience, are welcome. Staff teaching the subjects are engaged in a wide range of research in the area.
Course structure
All subjects are normally sequentially based and are offered subject to the availability of appropriate staffing and minimum enrolments.
