Modes of teaching and learning
While much of the teaching and learning at La Trobe University involves students in lectures, tutorials, seminars, and practical classes, these face-to-face, within-classroom modes of delivery are also supported by modern technology. At La Trobe, many topics and components of subjects can be studied via one, or a combination of, the following:
- independent computer-based learning (e.g. CD-ROM materials and tasks)
- group work mediated online (assignments, discussions)
- online access to study materials and digital recordings
- video-conferencing and video-lecturing
- self-paced print materials and study guides
- electronic mail and electronic mailing lists
These technology-supported, flexible learning practices offer students more choice about when, where, and how to learn. Your course or subject coordinator can provide specific information about the modes of delivery used in those subjects in which you plan to enrol.
