School of Pharmacy and Applied Science

The School of Pharmacy and Applied Science has a strong group of postgraduate and PhD students and research assistants working in the fields of pharmacy practice, pharmaceutics, pharmacogenomics, biotechnology, environmental chemistry, animal physiology, pharmacology, cell biology, and medicinal chemistry.

The laboratories are well equipped and renovated. All students are encouraged to communicate their work at Australian and overseas conferences, where some have been presented awards. Postgraduate students also work overseas in joint programs with international laboratories from time to time and a new water microbiology laboratory controlled by the Biotechnology Research Institute at Bendigo has recently been established at the Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus. A full or part-time Professional Doctorate degree in pharmacy could be introduced for those candidates wishing to pursue research in the pharmacy practice area that would contribute to their improved professional practice. The website at www.latrobe.edu.au/pharmacy/staff/research/research.html gives further details.
