LAW PROGRAMS
Master of Commercial Law
The Master of Commercial Law is open to graduates from any non-law discipline. Corporations increasingly require an understanding of commercial law issues, in preparation for a careerin an international business or a legal environment. This degree creates an opportunity for students without a legal background to gain a solid background in commercial law. Where a student has no background in law, completion of the subject, LAW5IAL: Introduction to Australian Law is compulsory. The remaining subjects may be selected from those presently offered in the Master of Laws in Global Business Law degree. Students may study in subject areas of global interest, including international business and arbitration law, and US business and corporations law. A Minor Research Paper of 10,000 words may be substituted for two of the eight required subjects. All subjects will be taught in block mode in summer and winter school by international scholars.
Admission requirements
An LLB, or an undergraduate or graduate degree from an Australian university or a comparable degree from a recognized or accredited institution outside of Australia. Bachelors degree should have been completed with an average grade of credit or above in the final year of undergraduate study. For non-LLB graduates, at least two years of relevant professional experience is required.
Applicants must satisfy the minimum English language proficiency requirements. That is, an IELTS (or equivalent) test result with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0. Note: English test results must be no more than two years old.
Course structure
The Masters program comprises 120 credit points. Students must complete eight subjects from the Master of Laws in Global Business Law program and/or the Public Interest Law program. The subject LAW5IAL (Introduction to Australian Law) is compulsory for students from a non-law background.
