LAW PROGRAMS
Master of Laws in Global Business Law (LMLGBL)
The program is available both full-time and part-time. It comprises eight subjects totalling 120 credit points. All subjects are taught in block mode and focus on areas of global interest, including international business and arbitration law and US business and corporations’ law. The course is therefore useful for students seeking to practise law overseas.
Persons eligible to enrol in this program include:
- graduates in law from Australian law schools
- students enrolled in other LLM programs in Australia
- practitioners holding membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) or CPA Australia
- practitioners who wish to audit a subject
- international students with the requisite academic standing.
The Master of Laws in Global Business Law is taught by business lawyers and academics from around the world. Subjects are delivered in block mode over the space of five days. These subjects are recognised by other Australian law schools, and cross-institutional study is welcome. The Master of Laws (Global Business Law) is also designed to articulate into the Doctor of Juridical Science.
All subjects in the LLM (Global Business Law) are examined via take-home examination. In any semester, a minor thesis of 10,000 words equivalent to two subjects may be undertaken. All subjects offered are capable of being credited to other LLM programs in Australia.
Admission requirements
An LLB, or an undergraduate or graduate degree from an Australian university or a comparable degree from a recognized or accredited institution outside of Australia. Bachelors degree should have been completed with an average grade of credit or above in the final year of undergraduate study. For non-LLB graduates, at least two years of relevant professional experience is required.
Applicants must satisfy the minimum English language proficiency requirements. That is, an IELTS (or equivalent) test result with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0. Note: English test results must be no more than two years old.
Course structure
Students must complete eight subjects, totalling 120 credit points. Students take four subjects or more per semester. Public Interest Law subjects may also be taken with the permission of the program coordinator.
