The Faculty’s new curriculum

In 2009 the Faculty’s bachelor degrees in health information management, occupational therapy, orthoptics, physiotherapy, podiatry, prosthetics and orthotics, speech pathology and social work became bachelor and master degrees leading to the same professional qualifications and registration. Students will be able to complete these double degrees in four years, or opt out after three years with a non-accredited bachelor degree. The new curriculum places an increased emphasis on professional practice in interdisciplinary settings and independence in the workforce.

  • the Bachelor of Health Information Management became the Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Health Information Management
  • the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy became the Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Occupational Therapy Practice
  • the Bachelor of Orthoptic and Ophthalmic Sciences became the Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Orthoptics
  • the Bachelor of Physiotherapy became the Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Physiotherapy Practice
  • the Bachelor of Podiatry became the Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Podiatric Practice
  • the Bachelor of Social Work/Bachelor of Human Services became the Bachelor of Human Services and Master of Social Work
  • the Bachelor of Speech Pathology became the Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Speech Pathology

Graduate entry master degrees in 2010

In 2010, several graduate entry master degrees will be introduced - Master of Health Information Management, Master of Occupational Therapy Practice and Master of Social Work. Full details of these courses can be found in the course description section of this Handbook. Application for these courses will be through VTAC.

An honours program for each of the above courses will also be offered.

Note that not all courses will be available at all campuses.
