The graduate certificate is a one-year, part-time, 80-credit point award and the postgraduate diploma is a one-year, full-time or two-year, part-time 120-credit point award designed to provide students with the in-depth knowledge and skills required to practise in contemporary mental health nursing practice. The course offers students a strong evidence base, supported by appropriate clinical skill development, along with the necessary life-long learning skills. It aims to prepare students as beginning practitioners in mental health nursing and meet the requirements of the Nurses’ Board of Victoria for endorsement as mental health nurses. The four clinical subjects within the course explicitly address these requirements as developed within national Mental Health Workforce Standards. Students will be expected to undertake supervised and assessed clinical practice.
