Tel: (03) 9479 5950
Email: nurrec@latrobe.edu.au
Duration: Postgraduate Diploma: 1 year full-time, 2 years part-time
Master: 1.5 years full-time, 2-3 years part-time
The Master of Nursing is a 1.5 year, full time or 2-3 year part-time award with an exit option available at the Postgraduate Diploma (one year, full time or two years part time, 120 credit points). The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills that assists their professional development in their area of practice. It is envisaged that the proposed flexible mode of delivery will be attractive to nurses looking to advance their career in a professional area of nursing not directly associated with hands on patient care. It will enable nurses from distant locations (including international) to enrol. Entry into this course is not contingent of an applicant having access to employment or clinical placement in a speciality field; this will be an attractive study option for international nurses. Applicants wishing to undertake a subject of study that requires clinical practice will require Course Coordinator approval and will need to meet the requirements of the hospital assessment of competency and registration requirements of the Nurses Board of Victoria.
Admission Requirements
Applicants seeking entry into the Master of Nursing must be a Division 1 Registered Nurse and hold a current practising certificate with the Nurses Board of Victoria, or its equivalent.
