Duration: 2-3 years part-time

The Bachelor of Education, in language other than English (LOTE) Australian sign language (AUSLAN), is designed to equip LOTE AUSLAN teachers with the skills required to teach AUSLAN in a variety of contexts, and to analyse the learning abilities and needs of their students within the framework of sign language teaching. Students are required to participate in observation and practical experience in teaching AUSLAN as a language other than English.

Admission requirements

Applicants should have a three year Bachelor degree or equivalent and demonstrate native-speaker fluency in AUSLAN. Applicants who can demonstrate native-speaker fluency in AUSLAN will be considered for special entry. There is an intake normally every two or three years.

Course structure

This course has a total of 120 credit points and requires two to three years of part-time study. Students must take the following 20-credit point subjects. Electives are taken in place of core subjects only with the approval of the course coordinator. The order of the subjects may vary as they are not sequential.
