Faculty of EducationGraduate and Postgraduate DiplomasPostgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology Education – Melbourne (Bundoora) (EDPSTE)The course is designed to upgrade teacher qualifications in science, mathematics and/or technology by integrating further studies in these disciplines with postgraduate education studies. The course caters for science or mathematics teachers and teacher educators who wish to upgrade their existing teaching skills. Participants will have the opportunity to select units appropriate to their existing fields of science, mathematics and technology teaching or teacher education. DurationThe course is one year full-time or two to three years part-time. Admission requirementsApplicants should have a recognised teaching qualification and normally have successfully completed appropriate tertiary studies of at least a sub-major sequence in science, mathematics or technology. Candidates who have also successfully completed a specialist graduate diploma in an area related to science or mathematics education may progress directly to the Master of Science and Technology Education. Course structureThe course consists of 120 credit points of study and is Part 1 of a two-year Master’s program consisting of the Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology Education and the Master of Science and Technology Education. The postgraduate diploma contains a minimum of 45 credit points of education units and a minimum of 45 credit points of science or mathematics units, with the remaining 30 credit points selected from either science or mathematics, or education.
