Course brochure

The Master of Education program is designed for graduates with a background in teaching and/or educational administration, or for other graduates with a professional interest in education. The Master of Arts is for professionals who do not have a background in education but who wish to advance their professional standing through studies in an education-related area.

Duration

This course is one year full-time or two to three years part-time.

Admission requirements

Candidates with a three-year Bachelor degree are eligible for entry to a two-year program (240 credit points). Applicants to the one-year program (Part II – 120 credit points) or to research candidature (strands 1 and 2) should have a Bachelor of Education, an Honours degree, or a specialised graduate diploma from a recognised university or institution.

Course structure

The courses are available in Master strands 1–4. Please refer to the earlier description for details. Candidates who enter the final year of the Master’s program are required to complete 120 credit points of study.

Candidates undertaking Strands 2–4 are expected to enrol in at least one research methodology unit during their Master’s program of study, which is normally a prerequisite to the minor thesis. Students in strand 3 or 4 will negotiate the remaining units along professional interest lines. Units are offered according to student numbers and staff availability.

Part II of the program consists of a total of 120 credit points.
