Guild Board - Management and Governance

The Guild Board is the policy-making body of the Guild controlling the services and facilities of the Guild, which compose of the Union Hall, Moat Theatre and the Agora commercial and service complex. The Guild Board of Bundoora Campus is composed of 13 members:

• Eight are elected by Guild members;
• Two are appointed by the Sports Clubs Committee;
• A nominee of the Vice-Principal (Resources and Administration);
• A nominee of University Council and
• The Executive Director, Student Services.

The Guild Board elects, from its members, the President who normally chairs the Guild Board meetings. Meetings are held monthly and all members and students are welcome.

President

The President of the Guild 2 is Jesse Marshall.

The President is elected on an annual basis at the Changeover meeting of the Guild Board in late May of each year.

The President normally presides at all meetings of the Guild Board and at general meetings of the Guild, and has the authority to convene a special meeting of the Guild Board by giving five working days notice.

The President shall also act as spokesperson for the Guild Board to the campus and the wider community.

The President forms part of the Guild Executive Committee and must ensure that the CEO implements in a timely and effective manner the policy decisions taken by the Guild Board.

CEO

The CEO of the Guild is Michael Torney.

The CEO is responsible to the Guild Board for the day-to-day operations of the Guild and the implementation of Guild Board policy.

The CEO of the Guild is responsible for the management and supervision of the staff of the Guild. The CEO is also ultimately responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and security of the Union Building and the Agora Commercial Areas, the services provided by the Guild and for the financial management of the Guild.

In doing so, the CEO is the chief advisor to the President and the Deputy President/s.

The CEO is also responsible for the secretarial duties associated with the Guild Board and its committees.

The CEO's office is located within the Guild's Administration Office on the upper level in the Union Building or email guild@latrobe.edu.au.

Mildura Students' Association (MSA) and Shepparton Students' Association (SSA)

The MSA and SSA is responsible to the Guild Board for coordinating a range of activities, events, programs and services for the students at the Mildura and Shepparton campus of La Trobe University.

The aim of the Associations is to provide an opportunity for social intercourse between all members of the Guild and to sponsor and promote social, cultural, educational, recreational and sporting activities among its members.
