Areas of Supervision

What do I do if I am interested?

First, check that you meet the entry requirements.

If you have any questions contact Dr Richard Pech (r.pech@latrobe.edu.au or telephone +61 3 94793119) who will be very willing to assist you.

However, if you are confident that you are eligible and you have selected your research topic it is recommended that you prepare a draft research proposal and send it, together with a statement of your qualifications (including the name of the university where you obtained each qualification) to Dr Pech. If you have identified a member of the Graduate School staff whose interests appear to coincide with your research area please indicate this in your submission also. Your proposal will generally be assessed within two weeks, and, if appropriate, you will be matched to a potential supervisor.

Your draft research proposal should not only set out the proposition or hypothesis that you wish to test but should provide a brief overview of the relevant academic literature and demonstrate the practicalities of your plan. For example, if you need to collect data from another country, how will this occur and who will fund this etc.

Assuming that you meet the criteria set down by the University, either the research director or your potential supervisor will work with you to ensure that your formal application has the best possible chance of success.

Note: we do not have a formal commencement time for research students – this will depend upon the availability of the supervisor and of the student.
