Core Areas of Research

Economics

This research area has two main focuses, the first is the performance of national economies and the second that of individual enterprises, particularly multinational enterprises. The former raises a host of issues, including those relating to the strategies or policies of governments and rates of economic development, the openness of different economies, and levels of country risk and their influence on inward flows of direct foreign investment. The latter considers corporate strategy and business histories. One approach is to take a comparative view. This may involve the comparison of groups of countries, developed against developing, or comparison within a particular group, such as those making the transition from a planned to a market system.
