GSM Sponsorship for Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) Events in 2008

The Graduate School of Management will be a sponsor at two events held by AHRI in 2008. The first sponsorship is the Victorian sponsor for the HR 2008 Practices Day to be held on Tuesday 4 March at the RACV City Club.

The second sponsorship is for the AHRI National Convention to be held 20 - 23 May 2008 at the Melbourne Convention Centre.

Both of these sponsorships will provide the GSM with the opportunity to showcase the programs offered at the School as well as providing staff and others complimentary entry to functions included in the two events.

Inaugural Winner of the MBA Bendigo Bank Community Scholarship

The inaugural winner of the Bendigo Bank Community Scholarship is Mr Andrew Loorham. Andrew grew up in country NSW and wanted to focus his career in a regional area. The MBA Program at the Bendigo Campus of La Trobe University has assisted him to both, study in a regional area and to provide him with a solid foundation to establish his career. Bendigo Bank launched the scholarship late last year with the aim of recognising not only the work of a local student, but the importance of retaining and nurturing the tertiary sector in regional centres.

New Adjunct Professor for the Graduate School of Management

Dr Alan Ryan, BA(Hons), LLB Melb., PhD Camb.

Dr Alan Ryan, Principal of the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies at the Australian Defence College , has been appointed to the role of Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Management where he will be involved with the School's fast expanding Executive Education Program and Strategic Studies. Alan's skills and experiences include the following:

  • Consultant to Noetic Solutions, a Canberra-based company that provides consultancy services on strategy, security and crisis management
  • Senior Advisor to the previous Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon. Robert Hill and was responsible for advising Senator Hill on intelligence, operations, strategic and international issues.
  • Senior Research Fellow in the Army's principal conceptual research institution, the Land Warfare Studies Centre
  • Senior lecturer at the University of Notre Dame Australia, where he was also Assistant Dean in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences and the College of Law and Director of the University's Politics and Law Programme
  • Worked as a contract manager in intellectual property commercialisation

Alan has an extensive record of publication on history, defence and strategic issues

Bendigo Bank MBA Scholarships

The Bendigo Bank has generously offered two scholarships for MBA students studying in Bendigo. Scholarship 1 is offered to students who have been employed by the Bendigo Bank for at least 3 years, Scholarship 2 is available to appropriately qualified people that work in the Bendigo Community.

The Workshops are held at the beginning of each term for new students as part of orientation.

Enhance Your Career Opportunities

Hudson Global Resources Corporation present career workshops twice yearly.

The workshops will cover Job Seeking Skills, Resume Preparation & Interview Skills.
