Greek Studies Program

Postgraduate Studies

The Program’s research strengths are in modern Greek literature (including Cypriot and Greek-Australian writing), Greek popular culture and the study of Greek settlement and culture in the Diaspora, and most of the Program’s postgraduate students are currently engaged in research for masters (MA) and doctoral (PhD) theses on these topics.

Postgraduate degrees

The Program is actively committed to promoting an environment of scholarly achievement and supports students with

  • supervision only by those with expertise in the field
  • a weekly postgraduate work-in-progress seminar
  • research completion and publication incentives
  • an environment of staff-student collegiality through seminars, shared work spaces and common facilities

Prospective students may apply at any time. Inquiries should be made through the the Postgraduate Coordinator and applications through the Research and Graduate Studies Office

Scholarships

Australian and New Zealand Citizens wishing to apply for an Australian Postgraduate Award or a La Trobe University scholarship for 2009 should check the Scholarships website in early August 2008.

Overseas applicants should contact La Trobe International in the first instance.

Financial assistance

Students may apply for a range of grants and awards to help fund their studies including:

  • research grants
  • publication awards
  • thesis completion award
