Groundwater

The Groundwater Research Program is centred around studying the causes of land and water salinisation, and the implementation of remediation methods. Much of the research carried out uses hydrogeological, hydrogeochemical and isotopic techniques to understand a range of sites across Western Victoria and surrounding regions.

Acid Mine Drainage (AMD)

The Acid Mine Drainage Research Program focusses on the remediation of contaminated water and land by neutralisation processes. Projects are both field and lab based, and the geochemical and hydrogeological practices covered have application in the mining industry as well as the management of acid sulphate soils.


Collaborative Research with Other Departments

Students also have the opportunity to undertake collaborative research with other departments at La Trobe University, in the following areas:
