Work ExperienceThe LaTrobe University Industry Cadetship Program gives students the opportunity to gain valuable and meaningful employment in their chosen industry during the course of their studies. The cadetships are designed to place students in 1-3 month work placements over the Christmas break, or part-time employment during the semester. Most positions offer a small salary (often tax free) and can give students the opportunity to make contacts for future employment. A list of available cadetships, and information on the different types of placements can be found on their website. The Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) also offer cadetships which you may wish to apply for. They provide an allowance of $9000 a year plus $500 book allowance while you are studying. You will undertake practical work placements for 6-8 weeks of the university holidays. On completion of your course, you are provided with four years work at NRE. Graduate ProgramsMany graduates choose to be employed in Graduate Programs because they offer a wide range of training opportunities and a supportive environment. DSE, DPI, Melbourne Water, URS, GHD, Golder Associates, ENSR, SKM, Hyder Consulting, ARUP and Parsons Brinckerhoff are just some of the major employers that offer programs for Environmental Geoscience graduates.
