Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic Science This two-year part-time postgraduate diploma program is designed for science graduates interested in forensic science careers and for practising forensic scientists wishing to up-grade their qualifications and/or obtain formal recognition of their expertise. The course has been developed by La Trobe University's Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering in collaboration with the National Institute for Forensic Science (which is located on the Research and Development Park on the University's Bundoora Campus) and the Victoria Police Forensic Science Centre (which is affiliated with the University and located adjacent to the Bundoora Campus). Teaching will be conducted by staff of the University's Departments of Biochemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Genetics & Human Variation, Law & Legal Studies, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistical Science. Teaching will also be conducted by staff from the Victoria Police Forensic Science Centre and the Victorian Police Institute of Forensic Medicine. Practical work will be conducted in laboratories at La Trobe University, the Victoria Forensic Science Centre, and The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine.
