Student and alumni profiles
Ms Serena Vos
Course of study:
Bachelor of Laws - Graduate entry
I graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with Honours. Arts Criminology and a General Arts Degree in contemporary studies with minor in political science. I met with a careers councilor to look at the opportunity to study abroad. The agency she suggested recommended La Trobe.
I enjoy the accessibility of professors and tutors La Trobe offers. It is possible to get to know your lecturers and you are not just a student number. The opportunities to get involved with the Law Students Association (LSA) have added to the enjoyment of the studies and has been an excellent way to get to know students and faculty members.
I hope to be a family lawyer in Victoria. I aspire to be a barrister and La Trobe has definitely put me on the right path.
Melbourne has been a great experience. It offers a dynamic variety of culture, arts and sport. I enjoy the architecture and fashion the city centre has to offer.
What I like most about the campus is the coffee! It’s everywhere. The people here are great. Very down to earth and welcoming to me as an international student. There are lots of social clubs to get involved in and sports/activities to participate in. La Trobe offers something for everyone. La Trobe has surpassed my study expectations. It is not your typical uni. How many uni’s have a wildlife reserve? Kangaroos on campus…enough said.
My advice for secondaty students who are considering studying at university is, be focused on your goals and take time to think about what you want to do. Appreciate the time commitment involved in university and do not get discouraged in your studies. Keep positive and take as many opportunities as possible. Start broad with your options and specialize as you go.
