James Faulks
Course of study:
Bachelor Commerce/Bachelor of Economics
I’m James Faulks – I’m currently studying a double degree in Commerce and Economics. As an ambassador, I’m constantly improving my communication and presentation skills, which will help me in obtaining a graduate position in the future given so much of the business world revolves around networking.
The most enjoyable aspect of being an ambassador is giving future students an insight into various course structures, course requirements and what university life is really like.
My greatest tip to prospective students is to attend experience and open days at universities you are considering. Inevitably you’ll be spending a considerable amount of time at university and you want that time to be as enjoyable as possible. Attending on-campus events gives you the chance to scope out the ‘feel’ of a university. Additionally, university websites and course guides are also valuable sources of information.
La Trobe University is not only a tremendous place to study, but a great place to meet new people. With a vast amount of social events ranging from bar nights to extravagant balls, and numerous academic and sports-based societies such as the Golden Key Honour Society and La Trobe University Snow Team (LUST), making new friends is easy and heaps of fun.
