Brief Profile
Jeannie Daniels is a Lecturer in Academic Language and Learning within the Faculty of Law and Management (0.7) and the Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Centre (CTLC) (0.3). Prior to joining the Faculty she has worked at the University of South Australia in the School of Education and in the Foundation Studies programme, and spent a year lecturing and developing curricula at Liverpool Hope University in England.
She has presented at conferences in Australia and internationally on topics related to her doctoral research which investigated women’s experiences of learning in vocational education. Jeannie has published papers on topics such as adult learning and assessment and evaluation, and regularly reviews papers for the Australian Journal of Adult Learning and the International Journal of Lifelong Education. Current interests include the globalisation of education, mature-age students (particulrly women) in higher education and the cultural contexts within which international students study in English-language environments.

2011. Educators' perspectives on teaching international students. Faculty-based study, with plans to extend with funding in 2012. Summary published in Broadcast #161.
2011. Older mature-age undergraduate students at La Trobe: effectiveness of widening participation strategies. University-wide. Pilot complete. Funding being sought to extend in 2012.
2011. Information Literacy - beyond Threshold Concepts. Approved, and in final stages of preparation. Cross-institutional project with Griffith University.
