PhD Scholarships

The Faculty is seeking applicants for 4 PhD Scholarships for projects in Justice, Corporate Governance, Water Resource Management and Value Creation in Firms. 

Scholarship holders receive an annual tax-free stipend of $23,728 for 3 years, subject to satisfactory progress reviews.

Justice - Justice Innovations in Victoria 


This PhD research project examines and assesses those innovations introduced into the Victorian justice system that aim to ensure courts and tribunals deliver a fair and efficient dispute resolution service which is accessible to all members of the community. The primary focus of this research will be innovations adopted in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Corporate Finance and Corporate Governance - Overconfidence and Short Selling around Mergers and Takeovers 


The ideal candidate for the scholarship should have an Honours degree in Finance (H1 or H2A) or Masters degree in Finance with research thesis, and meet the eligibility requirements for acceptance into the PhD program in FBEL. The candidate should have programming and econometric skills and experience dealing with large data sets.

Water Policy – Water Resource Management 


The Centre for Water Policy and Management is offering a PhD scholarship to support research into the efficient management of water resources.  Ideally, the candidate will have a background and interest in either new institutional economics, environmental and resource economics, or ecological economics.  The project will address one of a number of issues circumscribing the management of water resources in the Murray-Darling Basin.

Sustainability and marketing - Value Creation in Firms 


This project examines value creation in firms and enquires into value measurement using metrics for sustainability, marketing and financial performance. Candidates will examine the fundamentals of value creation and appropriate measurement including developing and testing novel measures of value. The ideal candidate for the scholarship would have an MBA and / or wide business experience and ability to work closely with senior managers; sound knowledge of marketing and supply chain logistics; a strong financial, marketing or accounting metrics background, interest in sustainability and related areas and meet the eligibility requirements for acceptance into the PhD program in FBEL.
