As people, most of us pursue personal growth and self-improvement; to enhance our behaviour; to achieve the best results both within our daily lives or as individuals of the sporting world. A life goal, even one potentially unachievable, is not easily abandoned.
It is with this in mind that Professor Julian Savulescu explores the controversial question of genetic enhancement in the face of rapid social change and imminent extinction. As human beings step further from a lifespan circumscribed by their religious belief they have, as individuals, begun to shift their thinking and behaviour. Professor Savulescu argues if we fail to take genetic enhancement seriously, we face extinction. So what are the major ethical issues to be faced to lift the possibilities of a longer survival?
